The National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) said yesterday that at least 22 educational institutions closed across the country in the last 48 hours for non-compliance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.
According to the report, 16 educational institutions have been closed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one in the federal capital and five in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. A large educational institution in Islamabad was sealed. Due to target testing, 16 cases were reported from the article organization.
On September 7, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood announced that from September 15, all higher education institutions in the country would reopen in phases.
More than 30,000 religious schools across the country also reopened in phases from Tuesday.
Educational institutions reopened in the country last Monday after a six-month hiatus due to Covid-19. According to the guidelines issued by the NCOC, parents are advised to ensure that their children follow the SOPs.
According to guidelines issued by the government, masks must be worn by all teachers and students, while schools, colleges and universities will ensure the presence of hand senators at the entrances. The NCOC also appeals to parents and teachers to adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued to protect students.
Meanwhile, the NCOC said that in the last 24 hours, 545 people tested positive for Covid 19 while 6 people lost their lives. The total number of active cases in Pakistan as on September 17 is 6,066. About 29,91,169 people have been rescued so far across Pakistan, the NCOC said.
