It is mentioned to be known\nas one of the best-known landmarks and is also one of the famous tourist attraction\nepitomizing the beauty and grandeur of the Mughal era. This mosque is on the\nwhole capable of accommodating over 55,000 worshippers as Badshahi is the\nsecond largest mosque in Pakistan. Its construction designing is much closely\nrelated to the Jama Masjid in Delhi, India as which was built in 1648 by\nAurangzeb&#8217;s father, Emperor Shah Jahan.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citybook.pk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Badshahi-Mosque-History-and-Whats-Inside-Mosque-CityBook-9-700x527.jpg\" alt=\"| City Book\" class=\"wp-image-3902\" title=\"| City Book\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>History of Badshahi Mosque<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The mosque built as to be under the patronage of the sixth Mughal\nEmperor, Aurangzeb Alamgir. It finished in the year 1673 just as under the\nsupervision of Aurangzeb&#8217;s foster brother Muzaffar Hussain. Later on, he was\nappointed the governor of Lahore in May 1671. He was also Master of the side of\nOrdnance to the emperor. It took almost two years to get it finished as from\nMay 1671 to April 1673. The mosque somehow built opposite the Lahore Fort that\nis all the more illustrating its stature in the Mughal Empire. Some of the\nextensive range of the repairs were carried out from 1939 to 1960 at the cost\nof around the 4.8 million rupees.&nbsp; The\nblueprint for the repairs was somehow on the whole prepared by the late\narchitect Nawab Zen Yar Jang Bahadur.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citybook.pk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Badshahi-Mosque-History-and-Whats-Inside-Mosque-CityBook-8-700x525.jpg\" alt=\"| City Book\" class=\"wp-image-3903\" title=\"| City Book\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What is unique in the Badshahi Mosque?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn the year 2000, the repair work of the marble\ndone under the supervision of Saleem Anjum Qureshi. On top of the occasion of\nthe second Islamic Summit held at Lahore on February 22, 1974, there were\nalmost thirty-nine heads of Muslim states who offered their Friday prayers in\nthe Badshahi Masjid. It was led by Maulana Abdul Qadir Azad, the &#8216;Khatib&#8217; of\nthe mosque. A small museum has also been added just recently in the complex as\nwhich consists of relics of Muhammad, his cousin, and his daughter, Hazrat\nFatima Zahra.\n\n\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citybook.pk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/Badshahi-Mosque-History-and-Whats-Inside-Mosque-CityBook-2-700x467.jpg\" alt=\"| City Book\" class=\"wp-image-3904\" title=\"| City Book\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What to See Inside Badshahi Mosque?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The whole mosque gives out the impression\nof being bold and much majestic looking in expression.&nbsp; The interior has been all set with the rich\nembellishment in stucco tracery all along with the paneling with a fresco\ntouch. It has the exterior with the stone carving as well as marble inlay on red\nsandstone. The embellishment was all set with the Indo-Greek, as well as\nCentral Asian and Indian architectural as to influence both in technique and\nmotifs. The skyline has beautifully furnished by beautiful ornamental merlons\ninlaid with the medium of the marble lining adding grace to the perimeter of\nthe mosque.
